Cole Hauser is an American actor who has received much attention for his performances in the movies ‘Paparazzi’ and ‘The Cave’. Having descended from a long line of moviemakers, Hauser was destined to have a career in the world of cinema. A great-grandson of the Warner Bros. 

Cole was exposed to Hollywood when he was very young. He developed an interest in acting while in his junior high school and dropped out of high school to move to Los Angeles to pursue his professional acting career. 

As a youth, he acted in a stage play titled ‘Dark of the Moon’ which garnered him numerous standing ovations. This gave him the motivation to venture into TV and films as well. He made his film debut in the 1992 ‘School Ties’. He then went on to act in a number of other movies and also took up small screen projects, including ‘High Incident,’ ‘ER’ and ‘Rogue.’ A happily married man behind the curtains, he is also the father of three children.

Cole Hauser is the son of Cass Warner, who founded the film production company Warner Sisters, and actor Wings Hauser. His paternal grandfather was Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dwight Hauser. One of Cole’s maternal great-grandfathers was film mogul Harry Warner, a founding partner of Warner Bros, and his paternal grandfather was Milton Sperling, a Hollywood screenwriter and independent film producer. 

Hauser’s maternal grandmother, Betty Mae Warner, a painter, sculptor, political activist and gallery owner, was married to Stanley Sheinbaum, a political activist, economist, philanthropist, and a former Los Angeles Police Department commissioner. Hauser is of German and Irish descent on his father’s side and Jewish on his mother’s.

Hauser’s parents got divorced in 1977, when he was two years old. According to him, at roughly fifteen, he first met his father after the relocation-induced years of separation. His father took him in for a year and taught him about auditioning. 

Prior to that, his mother had moved Hauser and his half brother and sisters from Santa Barbara to Oregon to Florida and then back to Santa Barbara within a 12-year-span. At the time, he participated heavily in sports, but half-heartedly pursued school. He was admitted to the short-listed circle of talent at a talent summer camp in New England, then won the leading role of the stage play named Dark of the Moon, which earned him standing ovations for his performance. At 16 years old he decided to leave high school to try to break into acting.

As a young boy, Cole Hauser joined a talent summer camp in New England. He eventually won the leading role in the stage play ‘Dark of the Moon’. He then made his movie debut through the 1992 flick ‘School Ties,’ alongside many up-and-coming actors including Matt Damon, Brendan Fraser, Ben Affleck, and Chris O’Donnell. Following this, Hauser had a role in the movie ‘Dazed and Confused’ (1993) and also appeared in the NBC TV-Movie ‘A Matter of Justice’ in the same year.

In 1995, he was cast in the John Singleton flick ‘Higher Learning’. A year later, he starred as Officer Randy Willitz in the television series ‘High Incident’. He later collaborated with Affleck and Damon for the movie ‘Good Will Hunting’. This was followed by a small role in the 1998 flick ‘The Hi-Lo Country’.

Hauser started the new millennium with the role of William J. Johns in the film ‘Pitch Black’ in 2000. He followed this up with roles in ‘A Shot at Glory’ and ‘Tigerland.’

In 2002, he starred in the drama films ‘Hart’s War’ and ‘White Oleander’. A year later, he was featured as Carter Verone in the action thriller ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’. Soon after this, the actor made appearances in four episodes of ‘ER’ and also had leading roles in the films ‘Paparazzi’ and ‘The Cave’. In 2007, Hauser starred alongside Anthony Anderson in the FOX’s series ‘K-Ville.’ That year, he also featured in ‘The Stone Angel,’ a drama film adapted from Margaret Laurence’s novel of the same name. The actor then filmed for the indie productions ‘Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys’ and ‘Like Dandelion Dust,’ and the television pilot ‘The Tower.’

The year 2010 saw Hauser in the role of Jimmy Godfrey in the TV series ‘Chase’. A year later, he was cast as Allan Campbell in the action movie ‘The Hit List’. From 2014 to 2017, he played Ethan Kelly in Audience Network’s series ‘Rogue.’ He later starred as Deklan MacGregor in the film ‘Acts of Violence’ in 2018.
